Friends of Vellore UK are fundraising for an urgently needed Antenatal and Maternity unit in the Jawadhi Hills where large numbers of births take place in unsafe environments.

The Jawadhi Hills are located about 50 km from Vellore and home to more than 60,000 tribal members in a collection of 294 villages and hamlets. The hilly terrain in which they live makes access to healthcare and other facilities difficult. Whilst more than 50% of children are born at home, medical help is over 12 hours away! As a result, many babies and mothers die.

The community needs a facility to reduce infant and maternal mortality. Christian Medical College Vellore, want to build a maternity and emergency care hospital offering healthcare services 24/7. Friends of Vellore UK are seeking to raise £50,000 to build the labour ward. This project has the potential to save and improve the lives of many. Please join us in this transformational mission and donate today. Thank you!
